THE BEST 2 1/2 DAYS OF MY LIFE

by Joel Trussel (Tampa, FL)

When I first heard about the Encounter, I thought it may be just what I needed. I’ve been a Christian all of my life, but the past five years were spent slowly drifting away from God. All I cared about was being successful at my job, making all of the money I could and having a good time. My nightly prayers became weekly prayers and then almost non-existent. After one year, I was in the top 5% of my company and making more in one year than I had made in the past five. My future with this company looked great and I was on top of the world. No…I was not on top of anything, in fact, I’ve never felt so alone and so lost in my life. I finally reached my breaking point and quit the company. My so called “friends” slowly began disappearing with the money. With the Encounter only days away I started thinking of every excuse possible to get out of going. If I had known then what I know now, I would have been the first person in line. You see, if you don’t have Jesus, you really don’t have anything.

My Encounter was the BEST two and a half days of my life. The entire time I was running from Jesus, he was waiting with open arms for me to come to him. You really do have a “one on one Encounter” with God. I was freed from a quarter of a century of bondage in sixty hours. I’ve compared it to walking down the street and seeing a check for $1,000,000 made out in your name and all you have to do is stop and pick it up. If you go to an Encounter with an open heart really seeking God, I know you will be a different person when you leave….just as I was. You can physically feel the burdens being released and you can’t hold back the joy that will flood your new life. Don’t just take my word…ask anyone who has been and I’m sure they will tell you the same thing. I have seen so many lives changed just because we were willing to go to this Encounter and give God a chance….that’s all he’s asking… just give him the opportunity to show you how much he loves you. It is and continues to be overwhelming.
