I
WITNESSED MEN'S LIVES CHANGED
by Frank McGovern (Davie, FL)
The time spent on
this weekend has truly encouraged me to go forward with
Christ and to continue to seek hard after Him. I had a
difficult time trying to understand why God had me on the
weekend to begin with. I have in the past been to a similar
weekend which reminded me of my experiences with God through
DeColores.
However, before going, He encouraged me to enter into His
rest, to be still and quiet and that’s exactly what I did,
which is somewhat difficult for an extravert and I confess,
even at times a “showboat”. So, in the spare time that was
allotted to us I went for walks on my own and did some
reading. 1Peter 3:4 “But let it be the hidden man of the
heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament
of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of
great price”.
I witnessed men’s lives change right before my eyes,
including areas of my own life as I was prayed for with
encouraging, prophetic words of life that were spoken into
my heart by men who gave of their time to encourage us all,
bringing to life my most favorite scripture I Corinth 10:24
“Let no man seek his own, but every man the wealth, (well
being) of another”. (Spiritually, Emotionally, Physically)
With all this said I continued to wonder exactly why God had
me on the weekend. For the past two yrs God had been dealing
with me strongly in the area of my un-surrendered life,
leading me from glory to glory through obedience. The
weekend was wonderful because it reminded me of how much my
life has already changed and given me a glimpse of how much
more God will continue to direct my path as I continue to
surrender, worship and trust in Him.
Previously I mentioned being “reminded”. Well, while on the
long drive back to Davie, FL. the Lord began to speak to me
in the area of being a widower with three lovely daughters
and how they would benefit from an “encounter weekend”. HE
had reminded me of all the benefits I had experienced from
the encounter and encouraged me to begin to pray and make
plans for their attendance at an up coming weekend. HE put
in my heart the perspective of seeing their lives change
which would allow them to go forward with Him without the
baggage of pain and sin from their past. This was the major
reason why He wanted me on the weekend.
Jer 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the
Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give
you a future and a hope".
Thanks so much!
